THE FIRST EDITION OF WINE MEET&GREET BY ZEDCOMM

On 3 March, the first event conceived and organised by the Zedcomm team for its wine customers (and not only!) was held at Dada in Taverna in Milan. It was an opportunity to meet and compare ideas to get to know each other, discover each other’s wines and do some networking.

BRIEF

The concept was to create a meeting devoted to our wine clients, – but also to those from the food, innovation and real estate fields – first and foremost to introduce them to each other, but also to create an opportunity for common reflection on the sector that has become so important for our agency in just a few years. The long-term goal is that it becomes an annual event and turns into a shared moment to do brain storming and discuss new ways of communication, new projects and new tools.

ACTIVITIES

The event was held on Friday 3 March at Dada in Taverna, a historical location in Milan, which is now under the creative and culinary guidance of two young chefs – Paolo Anzil and Davide la Grotteria. A standing lunch to ensure dialogue between guests, some in-depth speeches, and free wine tasting served by Michael Corso, director and bar manager of Dada. There were four speeches: the first was given by Filippo Galanti, founder of Divinea, who anticipated some figures from their report on wine tourism, a highly up-to-date topic that involves more and more people and offers us new development opportunities. This was followed by an important reflection – led by Federica Marini – on the role of press review in the world of wine, a subject that is often underestimated but which, instead, represents a key element for communicating and enhancing our business. Primo Bonacina of Podcast Italia Network described the potential of an increasingly growing means of communication representing a great opportunity for dissemination and promotion. Lastly, there was a greeting from Michael Wangblickler of Balzac, an American communication agency, who gave his views on wine communication in the United States, a market that represents a great challenge but also a huge opportunity.

OUTCOMES

The event was attended – in an informal atmosphere of curiosity towards this first appointment – by about 50 people – about fifteen wineries, consortia, and almost forty wines tasted – in an oenological journey through Italy from Piedmont to Campania, passing through Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany and Abruzzo. The event was also attended by a number of stakeholders in the industry, customers from the biodynamic world and representatives of sommelier associations, creating an atmosphere of discussion, mutual enrichment, sharing and reflection on the sector. In addition to a Mystery Bag with a reference from another winery, the guests were given a lot of smiles, toasts and many business cards, as any networking activity deserves. The aim was precisely to establish a reciprocal relationship between the guests, leading to an exchange of ideas, advice, information and contacts.

THE SECOND EDITION OF L’ALTRA TOSCANA TOOK PLACE IN FLORENCE ON 17 FEBRUARY

The second edition of L’Altra Toscana, which closed the week of the historic Anteprime Toscane on 17 February, was a resounding success. The Palazzo degli Affari in Florence hosted the wine tasting of the PDOs and PGIs Carmignano and Barco Reale, Chianti Rufina, Colline Lucchesi, Cortona, Maremma Toscana, Montecucco and Montecucco Sangiovese, Orcia, Suvereto and Val di Cornia, Terre di Casole, Terre di Pisa, Toscana, and Valdarno di Sopra. Protagonists were all these less ‘familiar’ zones, where grapes have been cultivated for centuries and where, alongside the legendary local producers – distinguished names in Italian winemaking – that bring quality and identity to the glass. Wine journalists arrived from Italy and all over the world, and in the afternoon the event also welcomed operators.

BRIEF

Zed-comm was charged by the entire team of 12 Consortiums for the protection di Tutela involved to manage all the press office and PR activities at national and local level to give visibility to the event and invite the press to participate. The aim was to communicate the teamwork of the Consortia and all the new vintages of their respective PDO and PGI wines to tell the story of the lesser-known Tuscany that is enriching the region’s wine offerings.

ACTIVITIES

Prior to the event, we took care of selecting and inviting the Italian and international trade press by coordinating their transfers with the travel agency. Press releases announcing the event were prepared with speeches by the presidents of all the consortiums, and an ad hoc press kit was created for the event. On 17 February, the consortium tasting counters were present in a space and area dedicated instead to tasting with sommelier service for journalists who were guided and accompanied by Zed-comm.

Over 330 labels with two special tastings held by Gabriele Gorelli Master of Wine had as their theme: “Dreaming of a White Tuscany” and “The Pillars of Supertuscan: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon”. To further deepen their knowledge, the Consortiums have also developed five thematic itineraries offered to journalists: Sangiovese Blends, International, White, Sangiovese and finally Other  Native ones, the showcase that turns the spotlight on all the red wines produced with native varieties other than Sangiovese, both in purity and in blends between them (Ciliegiolo, Alicante, Pugnitello, Canaiolo, Montepulciano). Zedcomm worked again this year with Scaramuzzi Team, an agency based in Florence, which handled the organisational secretariat of the event.

OUTCOMES

L’Altra Toscana was the star in the sector’s media before and after the event and obtained excellent media coverage, emerging among the Anteprime as the new entry to ‘keep an eye on’ because it enables the press and operators to discover lesser-known wines and territories with great potential. The event was attended by over 130 journalists from all over the world, and the 2024 appointment has been confirmed – but still with an official date to be defined!

MOSER EVENT – Presentation Blauen Blanc de Noirs 2015

On 7 February, we joined Moser Trento in the presentation of its latest label, Blauen Blauen Blanc de Noirs 2015. To mark the occasion, a lunch was organised at the Berton restaurant in the heart of Milan, with an ad hoc menu developed together with the chef to highlight the winery’s new Cino.

BRIEF

The winery was looking to create an event targeting the national wine press to present Blauen, in an elegant and reserved setting, which would be entirely dedicated to Moser. The purpose was to give space to the new wine but also to narrate the winery, creating various interlocutory stages between courses.

ACTIVITIES

Zedcomm took care of proposing various locations suitable for the event, evaluating the menu in accordance with the client, selecting the inviting press as well as all the work of inviting and recalling journalists. It then managed the event and the lunch timeline, consulting with the client to best manage all the key points to be told to the press.

OUTCOMES

The event was attended by around fifteen wine journalists in an atmosphere of curiosity about Moser Trento and its new flagship. The press was able to get to know the family at its best, and then describe its activity and work as exhaustively as possible. The event allowed the creation of new relationships with some of the publications and strengthened ties with those already known.

Tedeschi and Tenuta Mazzolino, an unusual lunch in the shadow of the Madonnina

Two territories – Valpolicella and Oltrepò – told with a play on keywords

On 1st of December 2022 a “lunch for two” was held at Horto – https://hortorestaurant.com in the heart of the Milan’s capital city, starring two of the wineries for which Zed_comm is in charge of the communication, Tedeschi and Tenuta Mazzolino, under the leadership of Sabrina Tedeschi and Francesca Seralvo respectively.

BRIEF

The idea was that of an informal lunch that would have as protagonists two different interlocutors, two women of wine at the helm of two wineries in different territories, but united by their passion and dedication to their work. The objective? To get them to talk freewheeling about wine world and wines (theirs, of course) “We wanted not so much to compare ourselves, but to ‘listen’ to each other, to tell the story of our two territories, close but different, through our wines for tasting and also through our way of experiencing wine and work, in the vineyard and in the cellar,”,” explained Sabrina and Francesca.

ACTIVITIES

Zed_Comm took care of all PR and Press Office activities to promote the event before and after. It also identified a group of Italian press and influencers, chosen together with the Association on the basis of the latter’s visibility objectives, who were invited and involved during the event with specific moments dedicated to the discovery of the territory of this wine. In this case, the agency took care of all the logistics, as well as of the contents to be disclosed to the journalists themselves. A post-event follow-up activity followed to amplify the results in the national, local and television press and on social networks.

OUTCOMES

The event was attended by a selection of journalists, as well as a public of enthusiasts involved in the second day of the event. The media, both trade and lifestyle, and the local newspapers, gave the news before and after the event, giving visibility to the event and making it known to a wide and heterogeneous audience. The trade publications, on the other hand, have allowed Reboro to approach an audience of experts, by whom it was evaluated very positively.
