MIDO an observant look at the world of eyewear

MIDO, the most important global fair dedicated to the world of eyewear, has just closed its doors. According to the data, this 52nd edition was a real success: 40 thousand visitors from 160 Countries around the World. For the Zedcomm team, it was a great challenge: three intense days, filled with thousands of steps between stands and pavilions, many smiles, a little tiredness, but, above all, a lot of contagious enthusiasm. Our satisfaction was also thanks to our customers present at the fair, who chose Milan’s stage as the ideal place to talk about themselves and their latest news. The first day of the fair opened with a press breakfast at the EssilorLuxottica stand, an occasion to talk to trade journalists about the current news in the world of lenses. Image98 celebrated 20 years of the iconic X-Ide brand with a cyber punk-inspired celebratory capsule collection and a high-energy party on Saturday evening. Blackfin, in addition to presenting the new collections, hosted an exclusive event for the press and best clients at the iconic Terrazza Martini, in the heart of Milan. The party was in collaboration with Barberini, a global reference for mineral glass lenses. MEI took the chance to talk about ClearXM, the innovative solution for the automatic cleaning and cosmetic control of cut lenses. At Lightbird, the spotlight was on Light_JOY Collection, where the balance between shapes and colors winks at new generations. NIRVAN JAWAN established itself as the main character of the Academy Area, the sector dedicated to the most creative and research-oriented brands: they used MIDO’s stage to talk about their glasses, emphasizing the mix between worldly cultures and high-quality craftsmanship. Swiss Eyewear Group, in addition to their brand INVITE, who just celebrated its tenth anniversary, brought their new brand designed for gen Z, Ekkiu Eyewear. Look presented the ICONS collection: ten optical models with a contemporary style that represent the essence of the brand. Finally, Tech Print Industries (TPI), a company specialized in the development of technologies for the production of 3D printed glasses, had the opportunity to talk about their projects and collections. This MIDO edition was truly experienced to the fullest by the Zedcomm team, and allowed them to strengthen dialogue with the press and sector stakeholders. See you in 2025, from 8 to 10 February!

The history of Fèlsina rediscovered by the Tuscans

On 25 January, we accompanied a group of selected Tuscan journalists and tasters to rediscover the reality of Fèlsina, an iconic Chianti winery and borderland between Chianti Classico and the Crete Senesi.  With Giovanni Poggiali, owner of the winery, agronomist Alessandro Chellini and collaborators Marco Barbi and Chiara Leonini, we took part in a short tour of the Fèlsina vineyards. Located in a profoundly heterogeneous territory, they are capable of producing wines that have written the history of the company, such as Rancia, Fontalloro and Colonia. After a visit to the historic cellar and the vinsantaia, the three labels were then the subject of the tasting, a brief vertical tasting of the 2009 and 2019 vintages, to arrive at the final treat, a small off-program with the Fontalloro 1999, from the winery’s private reserve. The appointment with the Tuscan press was the occasion for an informal and in-depth meeting of Fèlsina, which today has Giovanni Poggiali at its helm and pursues the constant search for authenticity in the vineyard and in the cellar, between nature and technique. The leitmotif of the meeting was Sangiovese, in purity in the three wines: the company was among the first to choose to vinify this symbolic Tuscan vine in purity, to investigate all the nuances it is capable of taking on in this territory.

Eyewear “shines” in Munich! Part of our eyewear team has just returned from OPTI 2024, the first international trade fair of the year dedicated to the optics, ophthalmology, machinery and lens industry. From January 12 to 14 inside the four halls of the Munich Messe among the 390 exhibitors were our customers such as Blackfin, INVU, Lightbird, Look, MEI System, Nirvan Javan, Safilens, OTTIMI, TPI. The German trade fair is always an important opportunity to present the new products and previews of the year to the Italian and international trade press and to discover the trends proposed by new brands mainly from Northern Europe. For our companies, Germany continues to be an important reference market: according to the latest ANFAO data, it represents the third global market worth about 200 million euros and with a growth trend for prescription frames and sunglasses of 12 percent compared to last year. Record edition for the Villaggio delle Meraviglie

On January 7, 2024, the seventeenth edition of the Village of Wonders – Milano Christmas Village came to an end.  A record edition for Milan’s most historic Christmas park. Since 2008 at the Indro Montanelli Gardens in Porta Venezia, in the heart of the city, thanks to Ambra Orfei and the whole team of Sceniko Events a real Christmas corner comes to life. A regular event for families and the many tourists who animate the city during the holiday season. A confirmation given by many factors such as: free admission, the cheerfulness of the Elves’ animations, themed rides, Christmas street food, and the presence of the skating rink of over 1,000 square meters, among the largest in Northern Italy. For the fifth consecutive year, ZedComm handled media relations, press office and advertising planning support and media partnership with Disco Radio (RDS group). More than 130 articles published online and offline in national and local daily and consumer press, radio, TV reports broadcast on RAI, Mediaset and Cusano TV news.
