Zorzettig conquers the Triveneto. Annalisa Zorzettig’s oenological excellence conquered the Veneto and Trentino press during a lunch organised at the Darì restaurant in the heart of Verona. The historic producer from Spessa (Udine) chose the city of Verona to present to local journalists the best of her prestigious Myò line, dedicated to the indigenous Friulian vines that best celebrate her territory. During the lunch, Annalisa, flanked by agronomist Antonio Nocca and sales manager Alan Gaddi, spoke about the company’s history, future projects and its commitment to preserving Friuli’s biodiversity. An ad hoc menu was then created in collaboration with the restaurant to highlight the organoleptic characteristics of Pinot Bianco, Malvasia, I Fiori di Leonie (a blend of Friulano, Sauvignon and Pinot Bianco) and Schioppettino. At the end of the meal, another icon of sweet wine production: Picolit.

Harmonia Mundi, the mystical sparkling wine of Santa Margherita

An exclusive experience the launch of Harmonia Mundi by Santa Margherita. The first sparkling wine made in Venice from grapes grown in the cloisters of San Francesco della Vigna, which for 800 years have guarded the city’s oldest urban vineyard. A unique wine, proposed in a limited edition with only 1. 107 precious, numbered bottles for the 2022 vintage, capable of encapsulating the mysticism of the places of prayer and the essence of the lagoon territory, Harmonia Mundi is a Charmat Method sparkling wine that draws its finesse and complexity from a prolonged rest on the lees for at least six months, together with the noble grape varieties that give it its birth: Glera and Malvasia, the most widespread white varietals in Veneto at the time of the Serenissima, replanted at San Francesco della Vigna by Santa Margherita agronomists in 2019. A wine that brings back the traditional cultivation techniques of the past. The production of this precious sparkling wine is the result of the redevelopment of the vineyards that have inhabited the cloisters of the convent since 1253: an ambitious project aimed at sealing the historic bond between the iconic wine brand and the city of Venice. What makes the Harmonia Mundi sparkling wine even more exclusive is its very precious packaging: a screen-printed bottle whose blue and gold nuances bring to mind the colours of the lagoon and the reflections of the lights that are reflected in the waters of its canals at night. Unique then, is the elegant case made using wood from disused briccole, a further tribute to the city and the unique origins of this wine.
For this unique event, Zedcomm took care of the selection and organisation of the press tour.

Journey to Discover the Young Winemakers of Alto Adige

At the beginning of June, we organized a press and lifestyle/wine influencer trip to discover the generational change taking place in Alto Adige. Prominent producers who have elevated this small region (only 1% of Italian wine production) to the pinnacle of world enology are choosing to pass the baton to their children—young, well-prepared, and enterprising individuals. Alto Adige stands out in this trend: here, more than in any other prestigious wine-growing area, the focus is strongly on the new generation. The new generations are making their presence felt in our territory. Among private estates, cooperative wineries, and small growers, the companies in Alto Adige are driven by tradition and passion, and they are passing the baton to the young—aged between 22 and 40—with the aim of continually elevating the quality of their wines. With our guests, and in collaboration with the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige, we visited several of these enterprises, met around forty young enthusiasts, tasted many labels—with a particular focus on Gewürztraminer and St. Magdalena—dined at the best restaurants in the area, and even took e-bike tours through the vineyards around Lake Caldaro. Objective? To give visibility through the reports of the journalists and content creators involved to a new generation of winemakers who are making quite a “noise” with the intention of being heard and carrying on the projects started by their grandparents and parents. These young people have great enthusiasm and competence, backed by significant educational backgrounds and experiences from around the world, which they eagerly shared with the press, who were impressed by the energy and the “beauty” of each glasses.

Tedeschi Wines: luogo e impronta aromatica, un viaggio sensoriale tra Sinner e Proust

Tedeschi Wines: the sense of place of wine a journey between Sinner and Proust

Can a very technical conference – The sense of place of a wine and the aromatic signature of Tedeschi’s crus – become as engaging as a rock concert? The answer is yes, if two strong personalities are presenting the conference: Professor Maurizio Ugliano and Jamie Goode. The former has a great curriculum that would make any other academic blush, with extensive experiences between Naples and Verona, passing through Australia and the Napa Valley and he cultivates a truly rock soul (he does, in fact, play the bass in a band); the latter is a journalist with a doctorate in biology, a wine columnist for The Sunday Express, and a writer for publications such as Harpers, The World of Fine Wine, Decanter, GrapesTALK and Sommelier Journal- someone who can command the audience wearing a t-shirt and sneakers. To this already explosive combination, it was then added the authority of a reality like Tedeschi, which can boast a history spanning almost four centuries and which has believed for a long time in the great richness of Valpolicella’s wine production. Today the company is led by the three siblings – Sabrina, Riccardo and Antonietta, each with a very specific role. As they themselves revealed with irony, during the conference, which was held on 6 June at the San Floriano University Centre, Villa Lebrecht (a truly enchanting place), one of them is full of ideas (Riccardo), one has the concreteness to carry them forward (Sabrina) and one holds the purse strings (Antonietta). It was indeed from one of Riccardo’s ideas that this study on the link between soil and the aromaticity of wines was born. He then found in Professor Ugliano the right support to carry forward this intuition and give it scientific credibility. In Jamie Goode, he found the ideal communicator to shake off the technical SIDE and illustrate the definition of terroir also through wonderful freehand drawings. What came from the conference? Long story short, we understood that: the sense of place of a wine exists (and it’s a bit like Proust’s infamous madeleine), it can be measured; it depends on the grape but it manifests itself with winemaking and can be managed through informed production choices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In short, wine is like Sinner: it has its winning (aromatic) hits.
