The Sicily of Ulysses believes that the future of tourism is rooted in a clear choice: putting people back at the center and showing deep respect for the land. Gensy, the Association’s biennial congress held in Palermo from November 7 to 9, embodies this vision. It was not conceived as a simple association event, but as a moment of responsibility, dialogue, and guidance for those working in hospitality, gastronomy, and the world of travel.

With Gensy, The Sicily of Ulysses affirms a development model that places the person, identity, and relationships first. Travel cannot be reduced to mere consumption. It must become a conscious experience, an authentic encounter, and a space for mutual growth between those who welcome and those who arrive. Sicily possesses a unique strength: a living culture, a cuisine that tells stories, a wine that brings people together, and a land that speaks. It is our responsibility to protect and enhance it.

During Gensy, around 200 participants—including chefs, journalists, entrepreneurs, communicators, philosophers, and experts—shared a clear vision: hospitality is born from gestures, language, and listening. Food becomes care when it conveys respect. Wine becomes culture when it tells the story of its land. Hospitality becomes memorable when it creates genuine connections. This approach defines the DNA of The Sicily of Ulysses.

Welcoming others means taking responsibility for both people and places. It means building well-being without distorting identity. It means doing business with ethics, vision, and courage. Gensy reminded us that quality and humanity are not opposites—they grow together.
